|Psicotruchas Around the World - Earzumba/Paulo Beto/Eloi Silverstre|
The ever so active Christian Dergarabedian, aka C.D., aka Earzumba dug up an old recording of him and two boys from Brazil, of whom I never heard: Paulo Beto, of the electronic bossa-nova project Anvil FX and Eloi Silvestre, who builds his own instruments from the trash. Together they operate analogue synths, laptop, tapes, radio and percussion. The recording is from 2002, but sounds still like a very fresh thing...

RDK’s Undisturbed e.p. blends traditionally inspired spacemusic and seventies synth textures with lightly sprinkled circuit bent sounds. You are about to hear and view material that was released by Kapotte Muziek in 1988. It was an anthology of works from the first three and half years of existence. |Not One Nor - Daniel Barbiero|
Not One Nor presents two works made of discrete events foregrounding the materiality of a large string instrument in its role as a resonating chamber. Both pieces are constructed out of a limited number of gestures and/or pitches and points on the instrumentâs geography with the intention of producing an immersion in sound as material, interspersed with contrasting pauses. Not One Nor for prepared double bass calls for shifting variations in timbre through the use of three gestures correspondin...

RUiNU - Eelmusic RUiNU, from Prague, Czech Republic, is one of the creepiest bands in the world, and Eelmusic, slithering through the wet intestines of musical consciousness, infects, even stains the spaces it is played in with its sense of dread. Tube Alloys is a project by Zan Hoffman (zh27.org) and Jeff Surak that combines, smelts, and delivers a new work derived from the best parts of some very good demos...

This music did not really begin as an hommage to Eliane Radigue, but I did come to think of it in relation to her work with slowly changing timbres, which I love, and I ended up calling it by her name. Normal Music have a very nice take on glitch, as evidenced on Brev (Zero Moon 3" CD), their way of subverting the autonomy of beat regularity, as well as their approach to the dubly layering of various analogue and digital noises, put them far ahead of a largely sleepy herd. The basics here get so cracked at times that I imagine this'd be capable of breaking people's bones on the dance floor if played at the right time and volume...
|Live from DLI - Al Margolis & Doug Van Nort|
This album is a live, unedited recording of an improvised session at the Deep Listening Institute in Kingston, NY on September 21, 2011. For this duo project, the musicians utilize acoustic materials and capture/transform one another's sound in an endless loop. Both use digital means; Van Nort tends to favor sculpting/stretching from small sound fragments, while Margolis often likes to make collages out of larger sound segments.
